At the Metro DC Dance Awards function on Monday, September 14, 2009, IDEA received the Outstanding YOUTH performance award for Katha: Tales from India.

There were several nominations in the category and the award for the best was a tie between Indian Dance Educators Association and Maryland Youth Ballet! As a representative of IDEA, Shobha Subramanian accepted the award on behalf of all of the participants of this show staged in November of 2008 at Rosslyn theater in Virginia.

The Metro DC Dance awards recognizes the efforts of local dance community -- awards are given out in various categories each year by competitive selection by a committee.
