Savitha Subramanian

Savitha began her Bharatanatyam training under Geetha Ravishankar in Zambia at the age of five and performed her arangetram at the age of twelve. She moved to the USA in 1997 and continued her training under Christel Stevens. Currently, she continues her Bharathanatyam training under Shobha Subramanian of the Jayamangala School in Maryland. She has also taken short training courses from Bharata Kalanjali in Chennai. Savitha was a member of the Bharathanatyam faculty with the India International School in Virginia for three years and has performed across Zambia, England, and USA, including performances at the World Bank, the D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival, and the IDEA festivals. She is also trained in Carnatic music and is currently a disciple of Jaya Balasubramanian of the Jayamangala School. Savitha is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
